Shell & Tube Heat Exchangers

The shell & tube heat exchanger is one of the most important components in a process plant, whether that is a chemical, pulp & paper, steel plant, or any other kind of process industry.

The same is true for power plants.

The shell & tube heat exchanger is a work horse in these plants; it has a robust design, stands high pressures, can easily be cleaned and is very reliable.

It is the best choice for heat excahange at high temperatures and pressures and is suitable for most applications, including liquid/liquid applications and steam heating.

AlfaTwist is a highly efficient shell & tube heat exchanger equipped with twisted tubes; AlfaTwist offers the following advantages:

Improved thermal efficiency, in general 40% better as compared to straight tubes.
The advantage is in particular large at low termperature differences between fluids.
This is also true for applications with highly viscous fluids and in gas/gas applications.
And i dirty fluids, since the turbulence in the twisted tubes tends to decrease the fouling on the tubes.
When there is a request for a more compact heat exchanger; the height of a vertical heat exchanger can be decreased by some 25% using an AlfaTwist heat exchanger.
Damages of tubes due to vibration are eliminated, since the twisted tubes support each other along the whole length of the tubes.
